Privacy policy

Last updated: October 11, 2026

This Privacy Notice for Glance.LLC ("we," "us," or "our") describes how and why we may access, collect, store, use, and/or share ("process") your personal information when you use our services ("Services"), including when you:

  • Visit our website at glanceapp.app, or any website of ours that links to this Privacy Notice
  • Download and use Glance, our app for Mac and Windows. Glance is an AI assistant that lives in your Mac's menu bar or your Windows system tray. When you press its shortcut, it can look at your screen (or an area you select) and answer questions about what it sees.
  • Engage with us in other related ways, including any sales, marketing, or support

Questions or concerns? Reading this Privacy Notice will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. We are responsible for making decisions about how your personal information is processed. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services. If you still have questions or concerns, contact us at support@glanceapp.app.

Summary of Key Points

This summary gives the key points of our Privacy Notice. Each topic is covered in more detail in the table of contents below.

What personal information do we process? When you visit, use, or navigate our Services, we may process personal information depending on how you interact with us, the choices you make, and the features you use. This includes your account details, your purchase history, and — only when you ask Glance a question — your question and a capture of your screen. Learn more about what information we collect.

Do we process any sensitive personal information? We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information. However, a screen capture can contain whatever happens to be on your screen when you ask Glance a question. See how Glance handles screen content and how to exclude apps from capture.

Do we collect any information from third parties? We receive limited account and order information from Shopify, the platform that runs our store and accounts. We do not buy personal information from anyone.

How do we process your information? To provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, keep the Services secure, and comply with law. We may also process your information for other purposes with your consent. Learn more about how we process your information.

In what situations and with which parties do we share personal information? With the service providers that make Glance work — mainly Shopify (store, accounts, payments) and Google (the Gemini AI that generates answers). Learn more about when and with whom we share your personal information.

How do we keep your information safe? We have reasonable organizational and technical safeguards in place, but no method of transmission over the internet or storage is 100% secure. Learn more about how we keep your information safe.

What are your rights? Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you rights over your personal information. Learn more about your privacy rights.

How do you exercise your rights? Email us at support@glanceapp.app. We will consider and act on any request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

1. What information do we collect?

Personal information you disclose to us

In Short: We collect personal information that you provide to us.

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you create an account, buy a subscription, express an interest in our products, take part in activities on the Services, or contact us.

Personal Information Provided by You. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:

  • names
  • email addresses
  • phone numbers (if you choose to provide one)
  • billing and mailing addresses
  • account and sign-in information
  • contact and marketing preferences
  • the contents of messages you send to our support email

Payment Data. Payments are processed entirely by Shopify. Your full card number and security code go directly to Shopify and are never seen or stored by us. We receive only order details such as what you bought, when, and the amount. Shopify's privacy notice is at https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy.

Passwords. Signing in to Glance happens on Shopify's own sign-in page. Glance never sees or stores your password.

Creator Program. If you apply to our Creator Program, we collect your name, email address, the social media accounts you'll promote Glance on, your payout account details, and any tax information needed to pay you (such as a W-9). We use this only to review your application, track your creator code, pay commissions and meet tax rules.

All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to it.

Screen content and questions (Glance app)

In Short: Glance only looks at your screen when you ask it to, and we don't store what it sees.

When you ask Glance a question, the app sends the following to our server, which forwards it to Google's Gemini AI to generate an answer:

  • your question;
  • a downscaled image of your screen (or the area you selected) and text recognized from it on your computer (on a Mac, only if you've granted Screen Recording permission);
  • recent messages from your current conversation, so follow-up questions make sense; and
  • if you've imported your own notes or documents into Glance, the short excerpts relevant to your question.

What we don't do:

  • Glance does not capture your screen in the background. It captures only when you invoke it.
  • Screen captures are held in memory for that single request. They are never saved to disk on your computer, and our server does not store them.
  • Our server does not store your questions, screen captures, or Glance's answers. It forwards them to Google and discards them.
  • Glance never captures its own window, and you can exclude any app (for example, a password manager or banking app) in Glance's settings so it is never captured.

Google processes this content under its Gemini API terms: https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms and https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Information stored only on your computer

The following stays on your computer and is never sent to us:

  • your conversation history (text only, never screenshots), stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Glance/ on a Mac or %LOCALAPPDATA%\Glance\ on Windows;
  • documents you import into Glance and corrections Glance has learned (only relevant excerpts are sent with a question, as described above);
  • your app settings;
  • your sign-in session token, stored in the macOS Keychain on a Mac or Windows Credential Manager on Windows; and
  • on Windows, the cookies of the Shopify sign-in window (stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Glance\WebView2\) and a diagnostic log (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Glance\glance.log) that records app events but never your questions, screen text, or answers.

You can clear conversation history and saved documents from Glance's settings at any time.

Information automatically collected

In Short: Our website uses cookies, and our server keeps basic account and usage records.

  • Website. When you visit our Shopify store, Shopify automatically collects information such as your IP address, browser and device type, and pages viewed, using cookies and similar technologies. See Section 4.
  • Account and usage records. To run your subscription, our server keeps your Shopify customer ID, email address, plan, subscription status, and renewal date. For each question, it also records how much AI processing you used (the AI model and token counts) so we can enforce plan limits. These usage records do not contain your questions, screen content, or answers.
  • Crash reports. When the Glance app or our server crashes or hits an unexpected error, a crash report is sent to Sentry so we can find and fix the problem. Crash reports contain technical details only: the error, where in Glance's code it happened, the app and operating system version, and basic device information such as the computer model. They never include your questions, screen content, screenshots, answers, or account identity.
  • No app analytics. The Glance app contains no analytics or advertising software.

2. How do we process your information?

In Short: We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law. We may also process your information for other purposes with your consent.

We process your personal information for a variety of reasons, depending on how you interact with our Services, including:

  • To provide the Glance app's core function. We send your question and screen content to Google's Gemini AI to generate the answer you asked for.
  • To facilitate account creation and authentication and otherwise manage user accounts, including verifying your subscription each time you use Glance.
  • To process purchases and manage subscriptions through Shopify.
  • To enforce plan limits and prevent abuse, using the usage records described above.
  • To respond to user inquiries and offer support.
  • To request feedback and to contact you about your use of our Services.
  • To send you marketing and promotional communications, if this is in accordance with your marketing preferences. You can opt out at any time (see Section 9).
  • To protect our Services, including fraud monitoring and prevention.
  • To evaluate and improve our Services, products, marketing, and your experience.

We do not use your questions, screen content, or answers to train AI models.

3. When and with whom do we share your personal information?

In Short: We share information with the service providers that run our Services, and in the specific situations described here.

Service providers. We share personal information with these providers so our Services can work:

Provider What they do What they receive
Shopify Runs our store, customer accounts, checkout, and payments Account, order, and payment information; website activity through cookies
Google (Gemini API) Generates Glance's answers Your questions, screen content, recent conversation, and relevant document excerpts, as described in Section 1
Railway Hosts our server and database The account and usage records described in Section 1
Cloudflare Backup network route to our server, used only when your network blocks the main one Your requests to our server in transit, encrypted; it does not store them
Sentry Crash and error reporting Technical crash details only (error, code location, app and OS version, device model), as described in Section 1
GOAFFPRO (a Shopify app) Runs our Creator Program: creator sign-ups, creator codes, and commission tracking For creators: the application and payout details above. For customers who use a creator code: order details and the contact details on the order, so the sale can be credited to the right creator

We may also share your personal information in these situations:

  • Business Transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or part of our business by another company.
  • Legal requirements. We may disclose information where required to comply with law, a court order, or legal process, or to protect our rights, our users, or others.

Shopify advertising features. Shopify provides a feature called Shopify Network Intelligence, which uses customer data from our store, combined with other Shopify data, to improve products, ad targeting, and personalization. Under some US state laws, this may be considered "sharing" for targeted advertising. You can opt out using the "Do not sell or share my personal information" link on our website, or by enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser. See Section 11.

4. Do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?

In Short: Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. The Glance app does not.

Our Shopify-hosted website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies (such as web beacons and pixels) to operate the store. They maintain your cart, keep you signed in, process checkout, keep your account secure, remember your preferences, and support Shopify's store analytics.

Shopify and its partners may also use tracking technologies for analytics and advertising, including to show you advertising tailored to your interests on our Services or other websites. To the extent these technologies are considered a "sale" or "sharing" (including targeted advertising) under US state laws, you can opt out as described in Section 11.

The Glance app does not use tracking technologies. On Windows, the sign-in window keeps Shopify's own sign-in cookies on your computer so you stay signed in; we do not use them for tracking.

Specific information about how these technologies are used, and how you can refuse certain cookies, is in Shopify's Cookie Notice: https://www.shopify.com/legal/cookies.

5. Do we offer artificial intelligence-based products?

In Short: Yes. Glance is an AI product powered by Google's Gemini.

As part of our Services, we offer products, features, and tools powered by artificial intelligence, machine learning, or similar technologies (collectively, "AI Products"). The terms in this Privacy Notice govern your use of the AI Products within our Services.

Use of AI Technologies. We provide the AI Products through a third-party service provider ("AI Service Provider"): Google, through the Gemini API. As described in this Privacy Notice, your input and the resulting output are shared with and processed by this AI Service Provider so you can use our AI Products. You must not use the AI Products in any way that violates the terms or policies of the AI Service Provider.

Our AI Products are designed for the following functions:

  • Text analysis
  • Image analysis (understanding what's on your screen)
  • AI-generated answers and explanations
  • Calculation and verification of math answers

How We Process Your Data Using AI. All personal information processed by our AI Products is handled in line with this Privacy Notice and our agreement with the AI Service Provider. Content is sent only when you ask Glance a question, travels over encrypted connections, and is not stored on our server.

AI answers can be wrong. Glance's answers are generated by AI and may contain errors. Don't rely on them for medical, legal, financial, or other important decisions without checking.

6. How long do we keep your information?

In Short: We keep your information as long as necessary for the purposes in this Privacy Notice, unless the law requires otherwise.

  • Questions, screen captures, and answers: not stored on our server. They are discarded as soon as your answer is returned.
  • Account, subscription, and usage records: kept while you have an account with us, plus any longer period required by law (for example, tax and accounting rules for order records).
  • Information on your computer: stays until you clear it in Glance's settings or delete it yourself. On a Mac, uninstalling Glance does not automatically delete ~/Library/Application Support/Glance/. On Windows, the uninstaller asks whether to delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\Glance\.

When we no longer have a legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will delete or anonymize it. If that isn't possible (for example, because it is stored in backup archives), we will securely store it and isolate it from further processing until deletion is possible.

7. How do we keep your information safe?

In Short: We aim to protect your personal information through organizational and technical security measures.

Our safeguards include:

  • encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data sent between Glance, our server, Shopify, and Google;
  • sign-in session tokens stored in the macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager, and stored only in hashed form on our server;
  • no storage of question or screen content on our server; and
  • the Mac app distributed signed and notarized by Apple.

However, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. We cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. Transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk. You should only access the Services within a secure environment.

Our servers and service providers are located in the United States. If you use our Services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

8. Do we collect information from minors?

In Short: We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Users under 18 need a parent or guardian's permission.

Our Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are between 13 and 18 (or under the age of majority where you live), you may use the Services only with the permission and involvement of a parent or guardian, who must make any purchase. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18, or that you are 13 or older and have your parent or guardian's permission.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will deactivate the account and promptly delete that data from our records. If you become aware of any such data, please contact us at support@glanceapp.app.

9. What are your privacy rights?

In Short: You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time, depending on your country, province, or state of residence.

Withdrawing your consent: If we rely on your consent to process your personal information (express and/or implied, depending on applicable law), you have the right to withdraw it at any time by contacting us using the details in Section 13. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal, nor, where applicable law allows, processing based on lawful grounds other than consent.

You can also withdraw Glance's access to your screen at any time: on a Mac, turn off Screen Recording for Glance in System Settings ‚Üí Privacy & Security; on Windows, quit Glance or uninstall it (Glance only captures your screen when you call it up).

Opting out of marketing and promotional communications: You can unsubscribe from our marketing and promotional communications at any time. Click the unsubscribe link in our emails, reply "STOP" or "UNSUBSCRIBE" to our SMS messages, or contact us using the details in Section 13. We will then remove you from our marketing lists. We may still send you service-related messages needed to administer your account, respond to service requests, or for other non-marketing purposes.

Account Information

To review or change your account information, or to terminate your account, you can:

  • log in to your account through Manage account‚Ķ in Glance's settings, or on our website; or
  • contact us at support@glanceapp.app.

When you ask to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. We may keep some information in our files to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with investigations, enforce our legal terms, and/or comply with legal requirements.

Cookies and similar technologies: Most web browsers accept cookies by default. You can usually set your browser to remove or reject cookies. If you do, some features of our website may not work. For more information, see Shopify's Cookie Notice: https://www.shopify.com/legal/cookies.

If you have questions or comments about your privacy rights, email us at support@glanceapp.app.

10. Controls for Do-Not-Track features

Most web browsers, and some mobile operating systems and apps, include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature or setting that signals your preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. No uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will tell you about that practice in a revised version of this Privacy Notice.

California law requires us to tell you how we respond to web browser DNT signals. Because there is currently no industry or legal standard for recognizing or honoring DNT signals, we do not respond to them at this time.

Global Privacy Control: We recognize and honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. If you use a browser or extension that supports GPC, we will treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising under applicable state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). When we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we automatically apply your opt-out preference without requiring you to take any further action. For more information about GPC and how to enable it, visit globalprivacycontrol.org.

11. Do United States residents have specific privacy rights?

In Short: If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have the right to access and receive details about the personal information we keep about you and how we have processed it. You may also have the right to correct inaccuracies, get a copy of your information, delete it, or withdraw your consent to our processing of it. These rights may be limited in some circumstances by applicable law. More information is provided below.
